your writing is always, always so lovely and evocative of this idea of india i have in my head but have barely experienced.

i bought my mom a curry plant online and have also wondered why it’s so difficult to get it to thrive and flourish. one day!!

I got my curry leaf plant a year ago and it has barely grown since then...but it is still alive!

Oh! Now I don't feel so horrid about my failed curry leaf plant. I bought it online. It came as three tiny plants. They looked healthy. I potted them in 3" pots. I thought I did everything right, but alas. I'm so sad. I've had to resort to a bag of dried leaves. I guess it's not as easy as some make it look. I wish you much success in growing yours!

Haha we need a curry leaf growers support group! Curry leaf is easy to grow in tropical India but everywhere else it’s so hard.

Since I live in Florida, I thought I'd have half a chance. Nope. I think if I could find an already established one I could keep it alive. Maybe I'm only dreaming. LOL!

Wow Perzen, this came out so beautifully, and what a lovely finish to the essay. And the pictures completely bring this story to life. Great job.

This makes me feel so much better! My mom and aunts somehow have these thriving kariveppila plants, and yet when I got my first one, I was so sad to see it struggling. The timing is funny, my sister just came back from visiting family in Michigan and in her suitcase was a tiny kariveppila plant in dirt that my aunt had sprung off for her. Maybe we need to give it a name like Arjun’s, so we can show it proper love and respect. The curries you describe here sound so good! I love fish curries so I’m sure they are as mouth watering as you describe!
