Join the beyond butter chicken hotline
A private space for us to talk about Indian food, spices and all things not-butter-chicken.
Food tastes best, shared. There’s a joy I get in talking about food, eating food with friends and comparing cooking notes that is unparalleled to any of my other non-food related friend activities.
When I was learning Indian food as a new bride, I used to be desperate for answers.
Why do the onions go in first?
When do I add the garam masala?
Will ginger powder do or do I need ginger paste?
And google always confused me more. What I wanted was a hotline to a clear answer so I could get my Indian dish tasting like some of the delicacies I grew up eating.
So, today I’m announcing a new addition to this Substack: the beyond butter chicken hotline.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — think of it as a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, share some photos of what I’m cooking, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
